I have a HP zbook g4, since yesterday when I close the lid the fan goes full speed and stays on draining the battery. Any ideas? Maybe a win update screwed this up? THANKS

Sorry, long weekend for the holiday.
Try disabling Fast Startup in the Windows power options. You can find it by clicking on, "Change what happens when opening/closing the lid." You can also make sure the computer is still set to sleep when shutting the lid here.
Also, see if there are any BIOS updates from HPs site for your model, as it could be a firmware related issue.

Is your laptop not going to sleep? You may need to adjust your Windows power settings to tell the computer to sleep when the lid is shut.

Hi, I own this pc for a year now, and this just started yesterday. The computer enters sleep mode but the fan doesn't stop. 5 seconds after I close the lid, the fan speeds up and stays like that.

That sounds like a possible issue with the computer's firmware (or whatever controls the fan behavior). It may not be shutting down properly, either; possibly a Windows update is the culprit.

That is my thinking...damned windows updates
So what solution do you suggest? Wait for the next update?
